Florida Mansion Foreclosure

In September 2007, a month after “Rush Hour 3” opened, Chris paid $6 million for a 10,000-square-foot lakefront mansion in a gated community called Bella Collina along Lake Apopka in Central Florida. The IRS placed a lien on the home in 2011 in an attempt to recover some of his $11.5 million tax debt. At the time of the 2011 IRS filing, Chris stated that he did not have enough income to pay his bills, notably his $25,812.50 monthly mortgage payment. Chris’ troubles were compounded by the fact that he drastically overpaid for the home at what would prove to be the absolute peak of the housing bubble. He listed the home for sale in July 2010 for $2 million and ultimately accepted $1.7 million in March 2012, a $4.3 million loss to his original purchase price.

However, the film was not as successful as its predecessors, getting mixed reviews and taking in substantially less than “Rush Hour 2.”
